Treatment Action Group (TAG) is inviting civil society and community organisations to submit expressions of interest for Architects of Trust, a Wellcome-funded programme that prepares communities for new tuberculosis vaccines. Eight grants of up to US$45,000 are available. It suits health advocacy and community organisations in our wider African network; organisations in Uganda are not eligible. The deadline is Thursday 5 November 2026, 10:59 AM (EAT).

What it funds
Several new TB vaccines are in late-stage trials and could be approved from 2029. The programme funds community organisations to get ahead of that: raising awareness, opening dialogue with communities, gathering their questions and concerns, and engaging policymakers so that countries are ready to introduce the vaccines fairly. Each partner names a project lead, the “architect of trust”, who works with TAG and the TB Vaccine Advocacy Roadmap (TB Vax ARM) coalition throughout.
Who can apply
- Civil society or community-based organisations working at national, subnational or regional level in one of the eligible countries or regions (Uganda is not on the list)
- Experience in TB, immunisation or other health advocacy, and in community engagement or policy work
- Links with other civil society organisations or networks
- A dedicated project lead who can stay for the project and attend the 8th Global TB Vaccine Forum in Zaragoza, Spain, on 12–16 April 2027
- Policies on safeguarding (bullying, harassment, abuse and harm), equity, diversity and inclusion, and legal and research compliance, or a willingness to adopt them
How to apply
Stage one is a short expression of interest, sketching the activities you would run, submitted through TAG’s online form by Thursday 5 November 2026, 10:59 AM (EAT). The questions are in the call document. TAG holds an introductory webinar on 28 October 2026. Shortlisted organisations hear on 4 December 2026 and submit a full proposal with work plan and budget by 11 January 2027; projects start on 1 March 2027. TAG discourages using AI to draft applications. Questions go to tag@treatmentactiongroup.org.
